I was born in St. Louis, Missouri to young parents with my father was in law school at the University of St. Louis during my infancy. I like to think some of his studying wore off on me in utero. My first word was “Torts.” I’m kidding. It was “Pro Bono.”

We eventually moved to our hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, in a family where the law was my family’s business. My grandfather founded our firm, and my father built a reputation as a respected medical malpractice attorney. I started working at the family firm as a pre-teen, filing, stapling and learning the rhythms of a law office. The smell of moldy old case files still evokes feelings of home.

After law school, I moved back to Scranton, PA to work with my father. Once there, I second-chaired complex trials, summarized medical records, and drove my Rav 4 all over rural Pennsylvania. I would handle workers’ compensation hearings on behalf of more seasoned lawyers in the tiny towns that everyone else avoided. Like Caudersport, PA, where a phone call to the local motel elicited the question “Do you like huntin?”

From an early age, I have learned something more important than the law. I’ve learned how a law firm truly functions from the inside out. A law firm is nothing more than a small business, at its core. If there’s one thing I know, it is small business.

Did you live in Philadelphia in 2010? Do you remember the Cupcake Lady, my besprinkled truck parked often at Love Park/ JFK Plaza with a healthy line of people waiting for a treat?

My Cupcake truck even made international headlines when the city seized it. Philadelphia rallied. John DeBella put me on the air. The Huffington Post covered my story. Someone from France called and referred to it as “Zee Cupcake Truck.”

These business experiences are the foundation that has shaped my career trajectory. Over the past 23 years, I’ve practiced in complex litigation, workers’ compensation, and pharmaceutical and medical device law online and otherwise. I also built my own successful business over seven years, including a nationally recognized bakery/food truck.

Now, in 2025, I am building a “mobile law firm,” tying my two worlds together with a bow. I want a law firm that helps regular people, with clear costs and simple language. With a commitment to meeting people where they are, with clarity, compassion, and maybe a baked good.

Follow me for the adventures.
